Noise reduction technology designed by Dr Christopher Hicks, Fellow of Churchill College and Engineering Director at CEDAR Audio (a University spin-out) was used by US broadcaster NBC throughout their coverage of the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi.

The DNS 8 Live dialogue noise suppressor,which has been used previously at Summer Olympics and FIFA World Cups, removes background noise from crowds, studio equipment and even vuvuzelas, to ensure the highest quality audio broadcasts.
