Churchill College has received the first in a series of generous gifts pledged by Ms Xiaotian Fu (G06). Ms Fu wanted her gift to support academic teaching and learning in Churchill College where she undertook an M.Phil in Education in 2006–07.

In her honour, Churchill College is landscaping and naming a garden in Storey’s Way, the Xiaotian Fu Garden. The garden was named officially in June in a ceremony attended by leading Chinese business and media people but the landscaping and planting will take place over the next six months. The design is intended to provide a better environment for peaceful academic work and tutorial meetings in the summer months.

Xiaotian Fu has built a successful media career in China encouraging international cooperation and engagement as host of the Phoenix Television programmeTalk with World Leaders, which has an audience of  over 200 million people. While developing her media career, Xiaotian has also been raising her presence in Chinese schools as a lecturer and adviser, representing a growing number of women who are making a name for themselves both at home in China and abroad.

Ms Fu is giving back to Churchill College to help future generations of students with the gift of this garden environment and financial support for students. It is very rare for a former student  to make a major gift so soon after his or her graduation and from so far away. Churchill College is grateful to Ms Fu for her gift and investment in education and excellence.

Churchill College is grateful for her gift which demonstrates her commitment to excellence in education.
