Louise did her undergraduate degree in philosophy at King’s College London, before doing the Oxford BPhil and DPhil. She received her DPhil from Oxford in 2012. Her thesis was on conceptual art, how it differs from other art, and to what extent claims about its philosophical significance are well-founded.

From 2011–2013 she held a Lectureship in Philosophy at Brasenose College, Oxford. Her research interests include conceptual art, the nature of artistic value, and the extent of analogies between aesthetics and metaethics. She is Director of Studies in Philosophy at Churchill and also at Fitzwilliam.
