Biography


Dr Wenhua Zhao was appointed as a Shell Assistant Professor at UWA in Oct 2013 and now a Senior Research Fellow and an award holder of the Australian Research Council DECRA fellowship (similar to Royal Academy of Eng. Research Fellow). Prior to this, he earned his PhD at Shanghai Jiao Tong University.
Wenhua’s research focuses on ocean engineering helping conventional oil & gas industry and renewable energy sector. His research in wave-structure interactions has led to 50 publications spaning from the most renowned journals (e.g. Journal of Fluid Mechanics) to the most industry-focused conferences (e.g. OTC). He has received five awards on different publications. His research has been largely supported by Australian Research Council and industry partners, e.g. 9 grants (AuD$10+ million in total) awarded within five years after his PhD.
He is currently a By-Fellow of Churchill College Cambridge and also a Deputy Editor for the renowned journal 'Ocean Engineering'.
