Student Caller Job Description

Purpose of the job:

To contact alumni of the College as part of Churchill College’s telethon. Student callers play a vital role developing relationships with alumni, keeping them in touch with news from the College, updating alumni contact data and communication preferences, and raising vital funds for Student Support.

Responsible to: Fran Malarée, Development Director

Telethons are managed by Rosalyn Hart, Development Officer

Accountabilities:

  1. To be an ambassador for Churchill College, to convey a positive impression and represent the College in a professional manner
  2. To engage alumni in conversation and establish a rapport
  3. Passionately communicate Churchill’s activities, accomplishments and goals
  4. Handle each call with courtesy, tact and sensitivity and answer questions to the best of your ability
  5. Update alumni details accurately
  6. Work hard to achieve the campaign targets as outlined by the Development Officer and Campaign Manager
  7. Adhere to employment expectation and performance standards including attending all call shifts on time
  8. Listen to feedback from the Call Room Supervisor and develop techniques to improve performance, deal with objections and develop the structure and style of your calls
  9. Display a positive, responsible and committed attitude towards the role and the team

Person Specification

The following criteria are appropriate to this post
  1. A caller must be a current Churchill College student, or a student who has graduated in the June before the telephone campaign.
  2. They must be comfortable engaging with other people and in exhibiting enthusiasm for Churchill College and able to transmit this to the people they are calling.
  3. In accordance with the Immigration, Asylum and Nationality Act (2006) they will need to provide evidence of their eligibility to work in the UK prior to starting work.

 

Knowledge and experience
  1. No prior experience is necessary as full training will be provided
  2. IT literate in order to access and input data
  3. Good knowledge of student life at Churchill College
  4. An awareness of and sympathy for the goals of the Think Forward campaign
