Badminton club

The Churchill Badminton Club is open to all members of the College of all abilities. We are a friendly club and welcome anybody with an interest in badminton to come along and have a go! Usually, there is one casual session during the week that is open to everyone and one more competitive training session intended for our two men’s teams and in 2017 newly founded women’s team. All sessions take place in the University Sports Centre and there is no charge for attending. Shuttles and racquets are provided by the club. The casual sessions are very relaxed and involve a combination of knock-a-bouts and competitive games, depending on personal preference. The training sessions are more competitive, with drills and matches to get into shape for the intercollegiate competitions.

With more than 100 subscribers, more than 40 active members, two men’s and one women’s team the club is one of the largest societies of Churchill. Our teams are among the best badminton College teams in Cambridge, with our men’s teams playing in the first and fifth division and our ladies team in the second division. This year our first men’s team won the Cuppers tournament (intercollegiate knock-out competition in Lent term) and our women’s team also entered the semi-finals. The league matches are double games and are scheduled approximately once per week in Michaelmas and Lent terms.

The club is always looking for more players of any standard, so please get in contact with the President.
