Important information for members of the University on how Brexit will affect them can now be found on a new dedicated website.
Tennis is one of the most popular sports at Churchill, and for good reason! We have three outdoor hard courts that are open to all Churchill students throughout the year, as well as three grass courts that are used in the Easter term. Courts can be booked at the Porter’s Lodge and tennis racquets can be hired through the JCR Equipment Officer.
I’m sure you’re all inspired after watching Murray win Wimbledon, enthused by Rafa’s amazing comeback from a knee injury, and amazed/intimidated by Serena’s continued dominance of each and every single woman that ever existed. So if you want a graceful forehand like Federer, a ferocious backhand like Djokovic, or always wanted to grow as tall as Del Potro (alright, you might be disappointed on that one…), get out on the courts and play some tennis!
If you’re interested in playing competitive tennis, you’ve come to the right College! Our 1st team are the current champions of the Cambridge Inter-College Tennis Tournament (Cuppers), defeating Jesus 1st team in the finals. Our underestimated 2nd team deserve a lot of credit for beating the overconfident heavy favourites, Girton 1st team, in the second round of the draw! Cuppers begins during the Lent term, and trials will be arranged prior to the start of the tournament.
Anyone at any level is welcome to play! There are lots of ways to get involved with social tennis; you can sign up to the mailing list, join the Churchill Social Tennis Facebook Group, or, as is most popular, just spontaneously decide to have a hit with a friend!
