So that we can ensure that all Members of the Churchill College community stay healthy and safe, things will look a little different when you next come to College. But you can find everything you need to know on our new Coronavirus Guidance page From the latest research from the University to what you should do if you have symptoms, and from the provision of College services to minimising the risk of transmission, you'll find all the answers to your questions here.
Unless you are on a one-year Masters course, it is essential to set up a UK bank account for your time at Churchill as soon as possible after you arrive.
We will use this page to pass on any messages or updates we receive from banks in Cambridge on how to set up your account. Please note, we cannot recommend any particular bank.
If you require a letter confirming your student status for your application, please contact the Tutorial Office (for Undergraduates) or Rebecca, the Postgraduate administrator (for Postgraduates); we will be happy to provide this.
"This year we are taking a different approach that reflects the operating impacts that the advent of the pandemic has had on us all. Our branch managers in our key sites are keen to build on our working relationship with you. With this in mind our default approach will be a digital first on-boarding process, through which the uncertainty and effects of the current situation can be minimised:
From 13th August 2020, Barclays will be on-boarding all UK and International students digitally via an online application. We no longer need students to come into branch in order to open an account. You can register your interest for a bank account with us from this date and will be held on a waiting list with regular communications until our account opening begins in September, whereupon you will typically be able to complete their application end-to-end, online.
All information relating to this process can be found on the Barclays Personal Banking website and below is the link for account applicants to register interest through. Barclays will not be opening any new student accounts in its branches unless the student has an accessibility issue or is a vulnerable customer.
See Barclays Student Account Information
The qualifying criteria for our student account opening are:
- Are you 18 or over?
- Will you be studying full-time in the UK?
- Are you going to be studying for an undergraduate qualification for at least two academic years full time, post-graduate for at least one year or are you a Higher Apprentice? (Level 4+)
- Are you planning to use this account as your main bank account?
The safety of students, university staff, our own colleagues and the public at large has been at the heart of this decision. We trust you will join us in making this new approach a success and shaping the future of student account opening at Barclays.
