Henry Purcell is famous for writing tuneful melodies above repeating bass-lines, known as ground bass ostinati. Churchill Swing, a small jazz group led from the bass by Ewan Campbell, ‘walk’ new paths over these well-trodden ‘grounds’.
This is part of the Michaelmas term Purcell 360 ̊ Festival.

Music and theatre meet in this programme interpolating musical interpretations of A Midsummer Night’s Dream by Mendelsohn and Purcell, with extracts of Shakespeare’s famous fairy tale. The programme also includes Concertos by Bourne and Vaughan Williams. This is part of the Michaelmas term Purcell 360 ̊ Festival.
