The Tizard New Opportunities Fund
Dick Tizard (1917–2005) was a Founding Fellow of Churchill College. He was described by the former Vice Chancellor of the University as Cambridge's 'most significant Senior Tutor'. Tizard was instrumental in widening access to Churchill through state school admissions. He was also hugely influential in the admission of the first female students to the College in 1972. But above all he was known for his commitment to the College and to his students.
The Tizard New Opportunities Fund was established to facilitate the investigation and application of ground-breaking ideas, both to promote intellectual advancement and to bring recognition to the College. The Fund is used to provide scholarship, bursaries and grants to enable students to investigate, research and implement new and radical ideas. It provides invaluable opportunities for current students to expand their knowledge while studying at Churchill.
