Ben received a MSci in Natural Sciences from Corpus Christi College, Cambridge, in 2013, specialising in Chemical Biology. In 2018, he was awarded a PhD in Molecular Biology from the Department of Pharmacology, Cambridge where he studied under Professor Laura Itzhaki. His research focused on the interactions between non-globular proteins, specifically between highly ordered tandem repeat proteins and intrinsically disordered proteins.

Ben has supervised and demonstrated for the University since 2014 and has taught over 70 students from 7 different colleges in that time. Ben has supervised Part 1A Chemistry for the NST and CEBT (formally CET) courses for Churchill since 2018 and was appointed a Teaching By-Fellow in 2024.
