Jen is Chief Research Officer at Vertical Future, a vertical farming technology and research company. Her research interests span plant physiology, genetics and marker identification to biochemistry to understand the impact of varied germplasm in varied environments on plant quality and sensorial characteristics.

Her research career started at Cambridge where she completed her PhD in Plant Sciences studying at St Catharine’s College. She completed post doc research at Cambridge, University of Copenhagen and Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory in California before moving to industrial research in 2014. She has an active collaboration with Prof. Alex Webb looking at the opportunities of controlled environment agriculture to reduce waste and costs and improve yield in salad crops.

She provides supervisions in comparative plant and animal physiology to undergraduates at Churchill and is a keen rower.
