Jessie is a Research Associate in Computing Education in the Department of Computer Science and Technology, working with Dr Sue Sentance. Her current research explores how constructionist pedagogies such as physical computing can foster young people’s attitudes and beliefs towards learning computing. Her wider research interests include inquiry-based learning, assessment, and widening participation in STEM.
Prior to joining the Department of Computer Science and Technology, Jessie held several other postdoctoral positions in education research, specifically physics education (University of Cambridge and Imperial College London) and science education (King’s College London). Jessie’s background is in the natural sciences where she earned her PhD in theoretical physics in 2019 at Queen Mary University of London.
Outside of all things STEM education, Jessie enjoys all things wildlife, bouldering, swimming, and spending time with friends and family.
