Pieter van Houten is Lecturer in the Department of Politics and International Studies (POLIS). His main research interests are in European and comparative politics, in particular territorial politics in Western Europe (such as regional autonomy movements, patterns of state decentralisation and the territorial organisations of political parties, with a primary focus on Belgium, Germany and Spain) and state building and post-conflict reconstruction in the Balkans.
