Christophe is Fellow in French at Churchill College and Professor of French Language and Translation at the Faculty of Modern & Medieval Languages & Linguistics.

Christophe teaches French language at all levels of the Tripos, with courses covering French grammar, translation into French, and French contemporary culture. He supervises Churchill students for the IA orals, IB Audio-visual paper, YA projects, and the Part II Identity paper (FRC2). He regularly serves as Director of Studies for Year Abroad and Part II students.

He co-authored “English-French Translation: A Practical Manual” (Routledge, 2020) with Emilia Wilton-Godberfforde and is currently editing a new volume on translation. His academic interests include the relationship between French and English, with particular focus on translation, contrastive pragmatics and intercultural communication.

Christophe is deeply committed to outreach, serving as a judge for language competitions and coordinating the French section’s participation in the Choix Goncourt organized by the Institut français.
