Our campus and facilities

One of Churchill College’s great strengths is how much it is able to provide on one site.

Our campus extends over 42 acres, including expansive gardens and green spaces, as well as three libraries, sports and performing arts facilities all on site.  Our accommodation is also largely based on-site – undergraduates are guaranteed on-site accommodation for the duration of their three or four-year course.

It’s one of the main advantages of Churchill and helps build our strong sense of community.

Churchill College is based near the West Cambridge university site, and 15 minutes from Cambridge city centre. It was designed to make the most of the space and provide a campus experience where everything is within easy reach.

Grounds & gardens

At Churchill College we encourage you to make the most of our outdoor spaces.

We want our grounds to be used, not just admired, so we’re relaxed about students walking on the grass, and provide picnic blankets for use in good weather. We have sports fields as well as wilder areas to make sure we’re providing a range of habitats for wildlife.

Students can get involved in planting projects, bee-keeping, using our seed library, tending allotments on site, or visiting our orchid house.

Our Grounds and Gardens team are also doing important work to conserve rare plants and increase biodiversity.

  • Squash court

  • On-site gym

Students also use our grounds to play Ultimate Frisbee and Lacrosse team. We have a Boat Club based in the centre of Cambridge

Music & Arts

We have an on-site Music Centre with recital spaces, recording studio and a host of intruments available for student use, including a drum kit and grand piano.

We have a Dance Studio also on our premises, and several performance spaces, including the Wolfson Hall theatre. For those who prefer the back-stage, Our on-site Audio-Visual team are based adjoining the Wolfson Hall theatre, and students can be trained in using AV equipment.

The Bill Brown Creative Workshops is an inter-disciplinary creative space opening in October 2023.

Within the College and across the grounds there is also a wide collection of art and sculpture, including original Warhol prints and Hepworth sculptures.
