Capturing the spirit of Churchill’s intent to produce the leaders of the future, the Churchill College Enterprise competition seeks to identify the best business ideas of current Churchill students and alumni.

Open to teams or individuals with an idea for an innovative service or product they would like to develop; the competition will award the winning entry £1,000 to develop their ideas further, together with experienced business mentoring from the panel of judges. The competition is generously supported by headline sponsor, the Federation of Shenzhen Commerce (FSC) and there will also be a £250 prize for the ‘Most Innovative Technology’ from supporting sponsor CyberHive.

All competition finalists will receive one-to-one mentoring support for the duration of the competition, together with the potential to access ongoing ‘in-kind’ investment (advice, networking and mentoring) by judging panel members, depending on the quality and nature of their entry. Our judges are all Churchill alumni or current Fellows – eminently qualified and successful in diverse sectors such as investment, management, research and manufacturing. The Churchill Enterprise Competition was a wonderful opportunity to develop our business pitching skills. Typically, early stage business ideas are always rough around the edges and require refining – to sharpen the idea, you need to pitch it to someone experienced to give you feedback.

As an incentive to enter, if you are not yet convinced, do read this Business Weekly article about alumnus David Holden-White (G14), co-founder of techspert.io. This initiative won the Enterprise competition for him and his co-founder in 2016 when their platform was called Biotechspert, and has recently closed a $12m funding round!

We invite all current Churchill students, alumni and Junior Research Fellows who are interested in developing a business idea to compete in 2022 Competition. Entrants will need to submit an outline of their idea, with an explanation of how it will be implemented and an evaluation of the idea’s potential benefits by the submission deadline of Sunday 6 March 2022. All those shortlisted will be invited to give a short presentation to the Enterprise board on Wednesday 27 April 2022. Please click on the links below to find out more:
