During these testing times it’s reassuring to hear about all of the hard work being done by the Churchill Community to both manage and inform about the Covid-19 pandemic, as well as other work and achievements that have taken place. Here’s what has been happening in the last few days.

COVID-19

Statistician Professor Sir David Spiegelhalter commented on the graphs used in the England lockdown presentation.

PhD Student Dr Chioma Achi spoke to us about her award winning work with poultry farmers in Nigeria and the relationship between her research in antimicrobial resistance and the Covid-19 pandemic.

Master of Churchill, Professor Dame Athene Donald, joined a number of scientists to comment on the results of the US election.

Fellow and Social Psychologist Dr Sander van der Linden discussed his recent study which showed that conservatives are more likely than liberals to endorse conspiracy thinking.

Emeritus Fellow and historian Professor Mark Goldie joined a panel on Radio 4’s In Our Time to discuss the life and work of philosopher Mary Astell who is described as “the first English feminist”.

Junior Research Fellow Dr Leor Zmigrod has been shortlisted for the Women of the Future Science Award.

Honorary Fellow Dr Helen Czerski joined a panel on Radio 4’s Start the Week to discuss black holes and ocean currents with Andrew Marr.
