Three weeks on from the launch of Churchill College rugby club’s ‘Furnishing the Fortress’ crowdfunding appeal, the total raised now stands at £3,981 with a new aspirational target set of £5,000 and just five days to go before the project closes on Sunday 20 December.
In response to the incredible support received, the club are now in a position to acquire not only the new post protectors and scoreboard but also a new honours board, recognising captains back to the club’s foundation. Reaching the club’s aspirational target of £5,000 would also allow for the purchase of a full new 23-man match kit with the option for individual replacement, allowing players to buy their shirts from the club without need for a full new kit order. As explained by Jack Salvesen (U18) the Treasurer of CCRFC, this replacement kit fund would enable the players that leave the club each year to walk away with their shirt to remember their times on (and off) the field.
The additional donations raised would also help secure the long-term financial stability of the club, creating opportunities for transport and the possibility of matches away from Cambridge or hosting larger events, including the potential of booking larger venues for significant events, such as celebrating the 60th anniversary of the club next year. It would also give the club a buffer to allow for any unforeseen repair and replacement costs.
Thank you to everyone who has supported our appeal thus far – your response is truly staggering, and we are overjoyed to see how much Churchill Rugby still means to you all. We would greatly appreciate your supporting us further by sharing the page with anyone who might be interested! We have loved hearing from rugby alumni in the comments and directly by email, and would love to continue to hear from you, by email or via the Facebook page! Jack Salvesen (U18)
Help the club succeed
You don’t need to give money to help the ‘Furnishing the Fortress’ appeal succeed. Please share the project page with anyone you think might support the appeal in the final count down to the project closing on Sunday 20 December. The more people who know about it, the more likely we can help the club achieve their aspirational target. And we know we said you don’t need to give money to help the appeal, but we’d love it if you could help with a donation too!
