The best way to get a feel for Churchill is to come visit us.
Check out our upcoming University Open Day on September 13, and Local Schools Open Day on September 20.
Pop in to explore informally (call ahead to ensure availability).
Let our students take you on a virtual tour.

University Open Day, September 13
At our September Open Day, you’re welcome any time, 09:30 – 16:00, to self-tour or explore College with our lovely student ambassadors.
Our Lead Admissions Tutor, Jonathan Padley, will be present throughout to answer any questions you may have about our undergraduate courses and/or admissions process.
If you’d like to meet some of our experts, several subjects will be represented by a Director of Studies (course lead) or other Fellow (teacher) at the times shown. In many cases, these’re the people who’d interview you for admission in their subjects if you get an interview invitation from Churchill later this year, so come quiz them about our process and what they’re looking for. And don’t worry if you can’t make these times, or if you’re interested in another subject – Jonathan Padley , our undergraduates, and colleagues from our Admissions Office will be about to help.
You don’t need to book to attend Churchill’s Open Days. However, if you want to book for the other Cambridge University provision happening the same days then head over to Cambridge Open Days.
Additionally, we’ll have an information stand from the Churchill College Archives Centre , our world-leading onsite collection of twentieth-century history (particularly political and scientific).
We find this September Open Day is most suitable for students who are about to submit UCAS applications so want to come and talk with us about fine-tuning. As ever though, all enquirers are welcome.
We look forward to meeting you 😊

This Open Day is specifically for Year 13 students from Cambridgeshire and Peterborough, who are preparing to apply to Cambridge in October 2024. There will be sessions on fine-tuning personal statements, admissions assessments, Student Finance, and opportunities to ask questions to our Admissions Tutors, academics, and current students. Everyone will also have a tour of Churchill with our student ambassadors.
Supporting teachers are also welcome to attend and participate in academic taster sessions alongside their students, as well as a teacher focus group with our Lead Admissions Tutor and Senior Tutor.
If you would like to come along, please complete the Qualtrics form by 9am on Wednesday 18 September. Lunch will be provided for all attendees.
Overnight accommodation for Open Days
If you’re an individual seeking overnight accommodation around a College or University Open Day, you can check availability at Churchill using the links on our Bed & Breakfast page. Note that this accommodation booking process will stipulate that all guests must be over 18. However, around Open Days, we can accommodate visitors of minimum age 16. Therefore, if you are 16 or 17, just mention this and the fact that you’re attending an Open Day in the Special Notes section of our booking process, so we can validate your booking.
We can often accommodate overnight school or college groups around Open Days too, at a VAT exempt rate. To check availability and pricing, email accommodation@chu.cam.ac.uk If we have availability, you’ll need to send a full rooming list, showing the names and roles (student or staff) of each attendee. We’ll also ask you to complete a VAT exemption form and send full payment in advance. Note that overnight school or college groups must be accompanied by an appropriate number of responsible adults.
Visit College (undergrad)
Prospective undergraduate students are welcome to visit Churchill informally, most days (including weekends), between 09:00 and 17:00. Note that College is routinely closed to visitors each year from Easter Sunday through to the middle of June, during our “Quiet Period” surrounding exams. There may be ad hoc closures at other times too so, to avoid disappointment, please call our Porters’ Lodge on +44 (0) 1223 336000 before you plan your visit.
The College’s private areas, such as accommodation and the Libraries, are not available to drop-in visitors but you can get a great sense of the College as an environment by looking around its public spaces.
Regretfully, we can’t offer individual tours.
If you represent a school or college and want to arrange a group visit then contact our Outreach team.
